Vision stabilisation after corrective laser surgery lasts from one to several months and patients should regularly turn up for postoperative visits following a fixed schedule.
What may happen after you have had a surgery?
The correction results are permanent and the need for re-operation is very rare. Directly after the surgery (within the period of 2-3 days) your vision is blurry. During the recovery period you may experience mild pain, swelling of eyelids, itching, watering, »dust in the eye« feeling, and later over-sensitiveness to light (light glare) or vision acuity fluctuations (e.g. in a dark room some patients may see with less contrast).Full vision acuity returns within a couple of weeks after the surgery, yet vision may fluctuate for a period up to 12 months after the surgery.
The recovery is problem-free, provided you follow the recommendations of your ophthalmologist. To avoid infection within the first week patients are prescribed antibiotics and steroid and non-steroid anti-inflammatory drugs. For one month you should use artificial tears, i.e. eye drops lubricating the eyeball.
Remember!
If you develop any alarming symptoms at any point after the surgery, contact the doctors from our Clinic!
